Last updated September 2026, this Seville train station guide explains how to use Santa Justa for a departure, an arrival or a connection. Santa Justa is the city's main high-speed and long-distance hub, but it is not Seville's only railway station. Check the station and operator printed on your ticket first; then choose your onward transport and leave enough time for luggage collection, security and boarding.

Seville train station at a glance

The official station name is Sevilla Santa Justa, on Avenida Kansas City. Adif manages the station infrastructure; Renfe, iryo and OUIGO are separate train operators, so a Renfe ticket desk is not a universal service desk for every booking. AVE is a Renfe train brand, not another name for the station or for every high-speed train. For the wider city network, start with our guide to getting around Seville.

  • Match your station, departure time, operator and train number to the booking confirmation.
  • Use the departure screens for the assigned track: vía means track and salida means departure. A destination alone can be ambiguous when several trains serve the same city.
  • Keep your ticket and required identification accessible before entering the boarding queue.
  • For an arrival, check your accommodation's actual street address before choosing a bus, train or taxi. 'City centre' is not one interchangeable stop.

Santa Justa, San Bernardo and Plaza de Armas

No. Adif's San Bernardo station information shows an active Cercanías stop, including C1, C4 and C5 services. Other urban stops also exist; Santa Justa should not be described as the only place to catch a commuter train. San Bernardo can be useful for changing between Cercanías, Metro Line 1 and the MetroCentro tram, but these are separate services with their own ticket conditions.

For high-speed departures, do not substitute San Bernardo for Santa Justa just because it is closer to your hotel. Use the station named on the ticket. Likewise, the Plaza de Armas coach terminal is a different transport facility, not a platform area inside Santa Justa. The historic former railway building near Plaza de Armas and today's coach terminal are not the same building.

Santa Justa has no Metro Line 1 platform. If you use Cercanías to San Bernardo and then enter the Metro, follow the interchange signs and validate the appropriate ticket for each service. Our Metro fares and validation guide explains the Metro part, not the full Cercanías fare system.

Opening hours, ticket office, and how early to arrive

The Adif station page currently lists building hours of 04:30–00:30 Monday–Friday except public holidays, and 05:15–00:30 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. These are station opening hours, not verified opening times for every ticket counter, café or lounge. For a very early train, buy your ticket beforehand and reconfirm building access with the operator if its instructions conflict with the station listing.

As an editorial planning buffer, aim to reach Santa Justa 45–60 minutes before a high-speed departure on a first visit, with more time if you need assistance, have a ticket problem or must collect stored bags. That buffer is not a universal carrier rule. Being at the building entrance is also different from being at the boarding gate.

The deadlines below apply to the named operators. Recheck your own ticket instructions, especially after a timetable change. A gate-closing time is the final cutoff, not a sensible target arrival time.

OperatorPublished boarding informationSource
RenfeAccess control closes 2 minutes before departure; arrive well ahead where luggage screening applies.Renfe ticket FAQ
iryoBe at the boarding gates at least 30 minutes before departure; doors close 2 minutes before.iryo station guidance
OUIGOBe in the boarding area at least 30 minutes before departure; access is refused in the final 5 minutes.OUIGO transport conditions, section 6.1
  • Allow separately for walking from your bus stop, finding the correct operator's queue and passing any security checks.
  • For Cercanías, use the commuter-train information and ticket facilities rather than assuming the high-speed boarding procedure applies.
  • If you arrive after a cutoff, speak to your operator. Do not assume that a train still visible at the platform can accept you or that a replacement ticket will be free.

Station facilities and the Sala Club lounge

Sort out the train first, then food or shopping. Follow current concourse signs for ticket sales, toilets, waiting areas and refreshments rather than relying on an old photograph to locate a particular shop. iryo confirms that its Espacio iryo is in the main hall. For an unresolved booking, use the desk or support channel belonging to the operator on your ticket; a booking reference from a reseller may also require that seller's help.

Renfe's current Sala Club hours for Sevilla Santa Justa are 05:20–21:30 Monday–Friday and 05:20–21:00 Saturday–Sunday. The access conditions normally allow entry from two hours before departure for eligible passengers, including Prémium ticket holders and qualifying loyalty members. Not every AVE ticket includes access; check the precise ticket and membership conditions.

A lounge is not overnight accommodation, and its hours do not override station security or boarding instructions. For an early departure, carry any essentials you cannot risk finding unavailable. If you are continuing by bicycle, consult our bike-hire and cycling guide; a bike-parking facility does not by itself prove that rental bikes are available at the station.

Luggage storage near Santa Justa

Do not plan on an official in-station left-luggage counter. OUIGO's June 2026 station-area guide says there is no official luggage storage inside Santa Justa and points to independent nearby providers. 'Santa Justa luggage storage' in a search result can mean a shop outside the station, not a service behind the departure gates.

One named option is Stow Your Bags at Avenida José Laguillo 22, which lists daily access from 07:00 to 23:00. It allows booking online or on site using a phone or touchscreen; advance booking is recommended, not mandatory. Its published one-day prices are €10.99 Small, €16.99 Standard and €22.99 Maxi per locker, not per bag. Check your selected duration and locker dimensions before payment.

The provider says bags cannot be collected after its 23:00 closure until it reopens at 07:00. That matters if your train is earlier than its opening or arrives after closing. These are advertised terms, not a tested booking or a guarantee of space.

  • Choose storage near the place where you must retrieve the bags, not simply the cheapest result on a citywide map.
  • Leave time to walk back, retrieve everything and reach the boarding area; retrieval time is additional to the train-arrival buffer.
  • Keep your passport, medication, ticket and anything needed during travel with you.
  • Save the address and access instructions before leaving. Check whether the booking covers a locker or each bag, and whether late collection incurs extra charges.

Getting from Seville train station to the city centre

Choose the transfer for your final address. Walking may suit a light bag and a destination on the eastern side of the old town; allow roughly 30–45 minutes toward the cathedral area as a planning estimate, with extra time in heat or with luggage. This is not a measured accessible itinerary, and Plaza de España is a different destination. Our old-town walking route starts in the historic centre, not at the station.

The ordinary TUSSAM single fare is €1.40. Multi-journey city-card options are explained in our transport-card comparison. A city-bus fare is not automatically a combined rail-and-Metro ticket, and the airport bus has its own tariff.

Use the TUSSAM route planner for the stop nearest the station exit you use. Do not assume that buses in opposite directions share one boarding point. The MetroCentro route guide explains the separate tram service; do not plan on boarding a tram inside Santa Justa.

Getting from Seville train station to the airport

The EA airport bus serves Santa Justa on its route between Plaza de Armas and Seville Airport. Use the stop and destination display for Aeropuerto, not the bus heading into town. The TUSSAM route poster effective 7 January 2026 names Santa Justa in both directions. Its terminal departure times are not the passing times at this intermediate stop.

The current EA single fare is €6; the €8 return is valid only on the day it is bought. TUSSAM Multiviaje can be used at the €6 airport rate, not the discounted ordinary city-ride price. For stop directions and the differences between city products and airport tickets, see our airport-transfer guide.

There is no passenger train connection to the airport terminal. Do not describe an ordinary Cercanías ride as an airport train. For a flight connection, allow for bus waiting, traffic and your airline's check-in and security deadlines; for a flight-to-train connection, add disembarkation and baggage reclaim. No fixed 35-minute road estimate guarantees either connection. If the timing is tight, compare a taxi and a later train rather than counting on an immediate bus.

Booking onward trains and day trips

Use the operator's date-specific search for the route you need: Renfe, iryo or OUIGO. Their service patterns, fares, baggage allowances and change conditions are not interchangeable. Compare the total booking cost with your actual bags and flexibility needs, not just a promotional starting fare.

For an excursion, our Córdoba rail-trip guide and Seville day-trip comparison help narrow the choice. Confirm the outward and return trains together before committing to a timed attraction. A route shown in a national journey planner may involve a change; check the itinerary rather than treating every result as direct.

Itálica is a different kind of outing: follow the bus route to the Roman site, not an assumed train from Santa Justa. If you are choosing accommodation for a very early departure, compare the actual station-door route as well as the room price. A hotel described as 'central' may still require a transfer.

Accessibility and a final departure checklist

Santa Justa is listed among stations with immediate Adif Acerca assistance. The service covers eligible passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility travelling on high-speed, medium-distance or long-distance trains across participating rail operators. Request help through your operator when booking where possible. Adif allows requests at immediate-assistance stations at least 30 minutes before departure if not arranged during purchase; do not confuse that minimum with the time needed to reach the meeting point.

OUIGO's online assistance-request process specifies at least 12 hours' notice in section 4.2 of its transport conditions. Follow that operator-specific booking process rather than treating Adif's immediate-assistance minimum as a promise that a late online request will work. Describe the assistance you need and confirm the meeting place and time for your train. A station listing or a photograph of a lift is not proof that every route or lift is usable at the moment you arrive. Ask specifically about platform access, the train's boarding arrangement and any onward interchange if those determine whether the journey works for you.

The accompanying independent station-walk video is by Carlito Explore. It can provide visual orientation, but its playback and current accuracy have not been verified here; use operator instructions and station signs for your journey.

  • Correct station and operator, with ticket and identification ready.
  • Bags retrieved before the storage provider closes, and baggage allowance checked with the train operator.
  • Any assistance meeting arranged and enough time allowed to reach it.
  • Departure screen checked for train number and track, with time for security and boarding.
  • No assumption that Metro, tram, city-bus and airport tickets are interchangeable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there only one train station in Seville?

No. Santa Justa is the main high-speed and long-distance hub, but Seville also has other railway stations, including San Bernardo. Use the station printed on your ticket. Plaza de Armas coach terminal is a separate facility.

What time does Sevilla Santa Justa open?

Adif currently lists 04:30–00:30 Monday–Friday except public holidays, and 05:15–00:30 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. These are building hours, not the hours of every ticket desk or shop.

Is there luggage storage at Santa Justa?

OUIGO reports no official storage inside the station. Independent nearby providers include Stow Your Bags at Avenida José Laguillo 22, which lists access from 07:00 to 23:00 daily. Confirm availability, price, locker size and collection hours before booking.

How early should I arrive before my train?

For a first high-speed departure, allow an editorial planning buffer of 45–60 minutes at the station, plus any extra time for luggage retrieval or assistance. Follow your operator's instructions: iryo and OUIGO require passengers at boarding at least 30 minutes ahead; their final cutoffs differ.

Is Renfe the same as AVE?

Renfe is a train operator; AVE is one of its high-speed brands. iryo and OUIGO are separate operators. Check the company on your booking for ticket support, baggage rules and boarding instructions.

How do I get from Santa Justa to Seville Airport?

Take the EA bus toward Aeropuerto or a taxi. The EA single is €6; its €8 return is valid only on the purchase day. Santa Justa is an intermediate stop, so the route's terminal departure times are not its passing times. There is no train to the airport terminal.

Can I request reduced-mobility assistance at Santa Justa?

Yes. Adif lists Santa Justa among its immediate-assistance Acerca stations. Arrange assistance through your train operator when booking where possible, and confirm the meeting point and time. This does not certify live lift availability or every onward route.
